Büssing archive for the museum

Construction plans for buses, trucks and special vehicles from the long-established Büssing company now enrich the archives of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum.

On behalf of the museum's support association, its chairman Dr. Rolf Teusch and his deputy Helmut Lingstädt presented the extensive material to First City Councillor Rainer Dworog and the head of the cultural department, Dr. Jörg Leuschner.

20 metal containers are currently in the sheepfold of the municipal museum and are now awaiting archival processing. Previously, the documents were stored by a private individual in Minden, who had offered them to Dr. Leuschner. There was no question that the town, as the former location of the Büssing factory, wanted to take over the countless plans, but the financing was not secured. And this is where the Förderkreis Schloss Salder "stepped in" with several thousand euros.

Dworog and Dr. Leuschner see the Büssing archive as a useful addition to the technology museum in the castle. The book on the history of Heinrich Büssing and his company, which was published a few months ago, was already in great demand throughout Germany and immediately required a reprint. Dr. Leuschner is convinced that there will also be great interest in the archive. There are Büssing fans all over the world. There are also model makers and researchers.

Heinrich Büssing founded his company in Braunschweig in 1903. He is regarded as a pioneer of German bus and truck construction. Production later moved to Salzgitter and was taken over by MAN in 1971. To this day, the Braunschweig lion in combination with the MAN logo on countless vehicles is a reminder of the traditional company.
