Hunting license
In addition to the hunting license, the consent of the respective hunting ground owner is required for hunting. Foreign hunting licenses do not entitle the holder to hunt or purchase weapons in Germany.
Reliability under hunting law is checked by the competent authority before the hunting license is issued or extended. Hunting liability insurance is offered by all major insurance companies to the extent required by law and must be proven by the applicant when applying for the hunting license. When the hunting license is issued for the first time, the applicant must present his/her examination certificate.
Fees:
- Annual hunting license for 1 year 90 EUR
- Annual hunting license for 3 years 220 EUR (reduced fee for certain groups)
Contactless hunting license renewal
Due to the corona pandemic, the town hall of the city of Salzgitter is currently closed to the public. Unfortunately, it is therefore not currently possible to renew your hunting license in person.
A contactless renewal can be done by post. The following documents are required:
- The completed and signed hunting license application form. This can be found under the "Downloads" tab.
- A hunting liability insurance confirmation whose validity period corresponds to the hunting license applied for (one or three years).
- The hunting license booklet, if there is still the possibility of renewal on page 5, or, if page 5 has already been completed in full, a current photograph.
These should be sent by post to the City of Salzgitter, Hunting Authority, P.O. Box 10 06 80, 38206 Salzgitter or posted in one of the post boxes at the town halls in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt or Salzgitter-Bad.
Once the renewal has been completed, you will receive your hunting license back by post together with a notification of fees. The fees currently amount to € 90 for one hunting year and € 220 for three hunting years.
Depending on the workload, the processing time is approx. 1-2 weeks including postage.
