Social welfare benefits as preventive health-related advice

Description

Description

If you need assistance with living expenses and do not have health insurance—whether through a public or private plan—medical care will be provided by the social welfare agency.

The social assistance agency will determine whether you are eligible to receive benefits. You are entitled to preventive health care, which includes:

  • preventive medical services
  • Examinations for the prevention and early detection of diseases
  • medical treatments to prevent an illness or health impairment

Some people do not have health insurance.
Social services offices (social assistance agencies) help these people.
The social assistance agencies assess:
Can we help this person?

And the social assistance agencies offer assistance.
For example:

  • preventive medical services
  • Screenings to prevent diseases
  • Screenings for the early detection of diseases.
  • Are you expecting a baby?
Or have you just had a baby?
And are you receiving social assistance or basic income support?
If so, the social services office will cover the cost of your counseling sessions.
