Description
Every consumer expects food that is safe and of high quality. First and foremost, this is the responsibility of all businesses in the food chain.
Food safety authorities use risk-based, systematic inspections and sampling to verify whether food business operators have implemented and are complying with the requirements of food law, and enforce these requirements as necessary.
If deficiencies are identified, it is the responsibility of official food safety authorities to ensure that they are corrected immediately and that violations of existing legal provisions are penalized.
Monitoring of cosmetics, tobacco products, and consumer goods is organized in a similar manner.
