The office in Steterburg continues to be staffed by Maxie Simgen, who no longer works for the raumscript office but signed a contract with the Urban Redevelopment and Socially Integrative City Department in January 2018. The work will now continue in this new cooperation.
On this basis, a reorientation is planned with greater involvement of citizens. One component of the integrated action plan is to be a disposition fund (budget for the Steterburg redevelopment area), which can then be used directly in the district for various projects and is a supplementary instrument of urban development funding. This gives everyone involved more responsibility for their neighborhood. "The social city of Steterburg thrives on participation. We want more participation from local stakeholders," says Michael Tacke, City Councillor for Building, Urban Planning, Urban Development and the Environment.
Local cooperation should be expanded. This applies to the various measures with the Van der Horst company, but also to the working groups with the various initiatives in Steterburg. As before, the Urban Redevelopment and Socially Integrative City department is the point of contact within the administration for applications from property owners and questions relating to funding.
A district newspaper is also planned for the first quarter of 2018, which will be produced by the district management. It will report on activities in Steterburg at regular intervals. The websites www. steterburg.net and www.salzgitter.de will continue to report on the activities of the Socially Integrative City project.
