Salzgitter

New bike repair station at Lebenstedt and Gotha train stations

TAG Wohnen has donated a bicycle repair station to the city of Salzgitter and its twin city Gotha in Thuringia. This gift was made as part of a bike tour by Salzgitter residents to Gotha, which took place from June 21 to June 23, 2024.

Stefan Klein, First Mayor (to the right of the repair station) and City Planning Councillor Michael Tacke (next to it) thank Claudius Oleszak, TAG Managing Director of TAG-Thüringen GmbH (to the left of the repair station), for the gift. The cyclists to Gotha also took part in the inauguration

Stefan Klein, First Mayor of the city of Salzgitter and initiator of the tour, thanked TAG and all the cyclists at the inauguration.

Stefan Klein explained that the idea of a bicycle tour to the partnership, some 200 kilometers away, was well received by cyclists right from the start.

TAG signaled its support by providing a bike repair station for both cities. In Salzgitter, the administration gladly and quickly took over the installation at the desired location.

The result of this joint project was inaugurated shortly before the departure to Gotha: a station located at Lebenstedt station where some work can be carried out quickly and easily (see below for details).

The 14 enthusiastic cyclists who left the town hall in Lebenstedt on Friday morning to visit the residential town of Gotha and inaugurate the bike station there on Sunday, June 23, with TAG and representatives of the town of Gotha had the opportunity to test it out.

"We as the city of Salzgitter would like to thank TAG for the gift," emphasized the First Mayor. The repair station contributes to Salzgitter's attractiveness as a cycling city. "The bike tour is also a great joint initiative that further broadens and intensifies the connection between Salzgitter and Gotha. Many thanks to everyone who took part."

Claudius Oleszak, TAG Managing Director of TAG-Thüringen GmbH, thanked Stefan Klein and conveyed his greetings from Gotha. His visit to Salzgitter was a bit of a home game, he said, because he had worked in Salzgitter for many years. He was all the more pleased about what is being achieved here and how green it is. "You can be proud of what the people here have achieved together".

As a special gift, he presented Stefan Klein with a cycling jersey from former Olympic champion Olaf Ludwig, who wore this jersey at the 1992 Cycling World Cup, won it and signed it for the present occasion with greetings to Salzgitter.

The participants were able to take advantage of this encouragement and set off on the quite hilly tour.

The bike station at the train station is another helpful point of contact for local cyclists if required.

What's more, cyclists are helping to promote cycling in Salzgitter and protect the climate. This is a simple way of helping to reduce CO2 emissions.
