Noise action planning

With the EU Environmental Noise Directive RL 2002/49, the European Union has adopted various regulations on noise immissions. The aim of the directive is to prevent or reduce the harmful effects of environmental noise on the environment.

Extract from the noise categorization

The member states were therefore obliged to determine and present the level of noise pollution for certain areas and noise sources. Based on this, noise reduction measures are then to be developed with the participation of the public.

In Germany, the Environmental Noise Directive is implemented through Part Six "Noise Abatement Planning" (Sections 47a - 47f) of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and the Thirty-fourth Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act(BImSchV).
