The Sozialticket is a discounted monthly ticket that allows eligible persons flexible use of local public transport within the city of Salzgitter (tariff zone 60). The price of the Sozialticket is 25 euros for adults (aged 15 and over) and 15 euros for children (aged 6 to 14).

The Sozialticket is valid for the services of KVG Braunschweig, Regionalbus Braunschweig GmbH (RBB), Harzbus GbR and DB Regio AG in the area of the city of Salzgitter, but can also be used for other fare zones with an extension card for individual journeys.

Citizens with their first place of residence in the city can buy the Sozialticket if they receive income-dependent, living benefits. These benefits are

• Assistance with living expenses
• Basic income support in old age or in the event of reduced earning capacity in accordance with SGB XII
• Basic income support or social benefit according to SGB II
• Benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
• Transfer benefits according to SGB VIII.

The Sozialticket can only be purchased at the KVG Mobility Center at Konrad-Adenauer-Str. 8 in Salzgitter Lebenstedt. For this, the presentation of a corresponding authorization card is required. It is not available on the buses, from RBB GmbH or from Deutsche Bahn.

The entitlement cards are sent to all eligible benefit recipients at the beginning of each year. Anyone who has not received an entitlement card can obtain one from the person responsible for them in the Social Affairs and Senior Citizens Department of the Salzgitter City Council.

Recipients of benefits according to SGB II can obtain it in the designated rooms on the fourth floor of the town hall in Lebenstedt. Further information is available on the telephone number below (see contact).

When purchasing the ticket, your name must be entered on the social ticket in the presence of a KVG employee. The ticket is non-transferable and does not include a travel allowance.
