Process controller

The City of Salzgitter's procedural pilot supports young people and their families in the event of (imminent) disability.

What does the process controller do?

The City of Salzgitter's procedural guide advises, accompanies and supports

  • children
  • young people
  • young adults up to and including the age of 26

with impending or existing disabilities and their families.

She helps them to find the right help as quickly as possible from the wide range of services available under integration assistance law. It accompanies families throughout the entire process, from the application to the granting of assistance and beyond.

Specific questions and options for support can be, for example

  • My child's participation is restricted. What rights does my child have?
  • What help/benefits can I apply for for my child?
  • Where can I apply for the benefits?
  • What do I need to apply?
  • How do I formulate my child's needs?
  • What can I do if my application is rejected?
  • What does the right of choice mean and how can I use it?
  • At my request, the procedure guide will accompany me to meetings with authorities or service providers (daycare center, school support, etc.).
  • The procedure guide will help me to find a suitable service provider.

The procedure guide herself does not decide on applications and does not provide any binding legal advice.

Applications for participation impairment due to a mental disability for children aged 6 and over are reviewed and processed by the specialist service for children, youth and family. Services that are necessary due to a physical and/or mental disability, as well as integration assistance services for children under the age of 6, are processed by the specialist service for social affairs and senior citizens.

The service is voluntary and free of charge.
