Social assistance helps people in need to secure their livelihood. If you have particular social difficulties, you can first seek advice on assistance.

During this consultation, the necessary requirements for granting assistance can be clarified. Assistance to overcome particular social difficulties is a subordinate benefit. Therefore, during the consultation you will also be informed about other, priority benefits that must be applied for first.

You can apply for help to overcome particular social difficulties if the following conditions are met:

  • Special living conditions:
    • no or insufficient housing
    • unsecured economic livelihood
    • Living conditions characterized by violence
    • Discharge from a closed institution
    • Comparable disadvantageous circumstances
  • Social difficulties:
    • Maintaining or obtaining housing
    • Finding a job
    • Obtaining a job
    • Family or other social relationships
    • delinquency

If all requirements are met, you can receive the following services, for example:

  • Counseling and personal support, also for relatives
  • Measures to obtain and maintain a home
  • Assistance in obtaining and securing a job
  • Assistance with schooling or vocational training
  • Cash and non-cash benefits are possible, for example health insurance contributions, clothing allowance or pocket money for inpatient accommodation
