Apply for permission to take Trichinella samples from wild boar and badgers

If you are a hunter and would like to collect samples yourself for the official Trichinella testing of wild boars and badgers, you must apply for a permit to collect Trichinella samples. To do so, you must meet certain requirements.

Description

Description

If you are a hunter and bag wild boars and badgers, you must have the animals officially tested for trichinella before consuming them or giving them to others. Trichinella are small nematodes that can parasitize the muscles of mammals. Wild boars and badgers, in particular, can be carriers.

Consuming game meat contaminated with trichinella can cause serious illness in humans. Testing ensures the safety of consumers.

Once the test has been completed and a negative result has been obtained, you may use the game meat as food or give it to others.

You may also collect the meat sample for trichina testing yourself. To do so, you need a permit to collect samples. You can obtain this from the relevant authority in your place of residence by providing:

  • proving you have the necessary knowledge (training certificate or similar),
  • presenting your valid annual hunting license, and
  • submitting proof of the required reliability
