Are you no longer allowed to work due to infection control measures, resulting in a loss of earnings? Find out here how you can be reimbursed for your lost earnings.

Description

Description

If you have been placed in quarantine or prohibited from working pursuant to an order issued by the public health department, you are entitled to compensation for your loss of earnings.

If you are performing alternative work or working from home, you are not entitled to compensation.

Compensation depends on your earnings.

The following applies to employees:

  • For the first 6 weeks, you will receive compensation directly from your employer in the amount of your previous net pay. Short-time work benefits are also taken into account.
  • Starting in the 7th week, the State Administrative Office pays the compensation at the rate of sick pay.
  • Any contributions from your employer are deducted from the calculation.
  • If you are eligible for unemployment benefits during the period of the work ban, you will receive them from the Employment Agency.

The following applies to employers:

  • You must pay the compensation to your employees. You can have the amounts paid reimbursed by the State Administrative Office.
  • Contributions to pension, long-term care, and health insurance may also be reimbursed to you.
  • You can also apply for an advance payment from the State Administrative Office.

For self-employed individuals:

  • You will receive the reimbursement directly from the State Administrative Office.
  • Your most recent annual profit is used for the calculation. This amount is divided by 12.
  • You can have your pension, long-term care, and health insurance contributions reimbursed.
  • You will receive the reimbursement monthly, retroactive to the 1st of the month. For example, you would receive the reimbursement for March on April 1.
  • You can also apply for an advance payment.

The following applies to home-based workers:

Unlike for self-employed individuals, your average monthly income is used for the calculation.
