Starting in January, people with mental health conditions can learn about and practice the easy-to-learn relaxation method “PMR” together in a group at the Salzgitter Public Health Department in Salzgitter-Bad once a week, without any pressure to perform perfectly.
People with mental health conditions, in particular, are all too familiar with negative emotional states such as anxiety, nervousness, and stress in their daily lives. As a result of constant unpleasant emotions and worries, the muscles automatically tense up, which can become a chronic condition. Mental distress intensifies, and physical pain symptoms often result as well.
With the help of “PMR,” participants learn to consciously tense and then deliberately relax the individual muscle groups of their bodies. This makes it easier to let go on a physical, mental, and emotional level and to become more relaxed.
The group begins on Tuesday, October 6, at the Medical Library of the Public Health Department in Salzgitter-Bad, located at Paracelsusstraße 1-9.
The course lasts eight weeks and takes place every Tuesday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Participation is free of charge.
