Maintaining contact/right of access

Description

Description

  • Children and young people,
  • parents,
  • other persons with rights of access (in some cases this may be the grandparents, for example) and
  • persons in whose care the child is (e.g. foster parents)

are entitled to advice on exercising their right of access. This means that the Youth Welfare Office can and may inform these persons about the legal issues surrounding rights of access.

The same group of people is also entitled to support in exercising the right of access. This entitlement goes beyond legal advice. The youth welfare office can, for example, write letters and conduct mediation talks. Depending on the circumstances of the individual case, it may also be that such further assistance is not possible.
